Important Notes

Criteria For Ranking (EAMCET  “E / AM CATEGORY”)

As per G.O.Ms.No 165 dated 06-09-2007and G.O.Ms.No 8 (Amendment to the GO.Ms. No 16) Higher Education Department, dated 27-01-2009, the candidates who have secured qualifying marks in EAMCET and candidates belonging to the category of Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe, for whom qualifying marks have not been prescribed, shall be assigned ranking in the order of merit on the basis of combined score obtained by giving 75% weightage to the marks secured in EAMCET and 25% weightage to the marks secured in the relevant group subjects namely Mathematics/Biology, Physics, Chemistry of the qualifying examination.
For the preparation of merit list, in case of more than one student securing the same combined score obtained as mentioned above, the tie shall be resolved to decide the relative ranking by successively considering the following
i)   The total marks secured in EAMCET
ii)   The Marks secured in mathematics/biology in EAMCET
iii) The marks secured in Physics in EAMCET
iv) The Percentage of Aggregate marks secured in the qualifying examination
V) If the Tie still persists the date of birth of the concerned candidates, the order being given preference over the younger

As per the new system, marks secured in three subjects of EAMCET would be calculated for 75 per cent and they would be added to the 25 per cent equivalent of the marks scored in the core subjects in Intermediate

For example If a student scores 140 marks out of 160 in EAMCET, his marks would be obtained by multiplying 140 with 75 and then divided by the total marks of 160. It would come to 65.62 marks.

Similarly, the marks scored in the Intermediate examinations would be calculated using the same formula. 25 per cent of Intermediate weightage would be calculated for 600 marks taking into account the marks of core subjects only. In two years of Intermediate 400 marks are earmarked for two languages - English and the chosen second language and these marks would not be considered. The remaining 600 are reserved for subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.

For example, if a student scores 550 in Intermediate out of 600, the same would be multiplied with 25 and then divided by the total marks of 600. Here it would come to 22.91 marks. Now 65.62 and 22.91 would be added and the total would come to 88.53. The highest marks scored by a student this way would get the first rank. Similar procedure would be adopted for CBSE and ICSE marks also.

In case of a tie, the comparison for a better rank would be arrived at by first considering the total marks in EAMCET and if they are also equal, marks scored in Mathematics or Biology would be the next consideration. If there is a tie again, marks scored in Physics in EAMCET would come into picture and even if they are equal, the total marks obtained in the Intermediate examination (including languages and practicals) would be considered. If there is still a tie, date of birth of the candidate would be considered and the older one would get the first preference. The final rank will be given only after the advanced supplementary examinations results are declared. Though the marks will be taken into account for calculating the rank, the final admission would be given based on ranks only. Ranks are likely to be given in the fourth week of June
